Engineering-Course contents

Many opt for various courses without knowing that what it holds for the future. More over many select course based on mere Fancy or an advice from friends who may not be well informed .Never allow such things to happen. Instead of going behind labels parents and students should know in detail, the subject, course content, and nature of jobs related to the programme.

Here includes, the content of popular discipline under engineering and technology

1.Civil Engineering

It deals with planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities such as buildings roads, railways, tunnels, canal, dams, airports, harbours, water supply and sewage disposal.

2.Mechanical Engineering

It involves the machines and their components, internal combustion engines, thermal power systems airconditioning, induistrial engineering etc.

3.Electrical and Electronic engineering

Give stress on electrical engineering that covers generator, transmission, distribution illustration and utilization of electric powers. Protection and control of systems as well as manufacture and maintenance of electronic equipments.

4.Insrumentation

It covers monitoring, control and automation of system involving mechanical, electrical, electronic, thermal or other type of instruments. Instrumentation engineers and chemical engineers may have to do night shifts during their early part of their service.

5.Computer Science and engineering

It can open to the world of software or hardware . Choice can be made on the basis of aptitude .Moreover graduates in other branches can also get opportunities in software development jobs.

6.Industrial engineering

There is a common bias that it is meant for setting up industries. But actually it deals with methods for improving productivity and quality at optimal cost. It also deals with operation research integration system comprising men, materials , machines and information.

7.Chemical Engineering

It covers the area such as fertilizer production, petroleum refining, food- processing, synthetic products, mineral based industries, pollution control and environmental protection.

8.ProducionEngineering

It is a specialized area under mechanical engineering with emphasis on production.

9.Biomedical Engineering

Now a days ,this has much to offer to Engineering graduates. It deals with application of electronic and technology in the field of Medicine, including devices for diagnosis and cure.

10.Polymer Engineering

It deals with rubber and diverse chemical products.

11.Aeronautical /Aerospace Engineering

It covers a wide spectrum in Aeronautics and astronautics including design, Manufacture ,Testing ,Analysis, maintenence and development of an aircraft for different applications, guidence and control systems.

12.Architecture

It is a connecting link between aesthetics and engineering. an architect has to design buildings and other structures aesthetically. Knowledge required for an architect are ,knowledge of materials ,structural principles, acoustics, illumination, space utilization, interior and exterior design, land scaping, country planning, estimation, costing, legal aspects of construction and so on.

These are mentioned in order to make oneself understand about the advantages of knowing course details and there by selecting the right track suitable for self.

Few disciplines with limited facilities for training are

Automobile engineering,Aereospace engineering, Textile technology, Packaging technology, Plastic technology, printing technology, Petrochemical engineering, sugar technology, naval architecture, silk technology and leather technology

Opt for the one that suits you....
